It is with profound sadness that the family of Frank Seller announces his passing on December 25, 2013 at age 89 in Victoria, B.C. Frank was born on March 8, 1924 in Winnipeg and spent his early years in Kenora, Ontario, as well as in Fort Frances, Brandon and Winnipeg. He attended St. Johns Technical High School in Winnipeg and joined the air force when he was only 18, training as a wireless operator. After the war he returned to Winnipeg where he attended the University of Manitoba and worked at various jobs. It was at that time he met Olga Lulashnyk from Dauphin, Manitoba. They were married in September of 1949 and Frank was welcomed into a large and supportive extended family. They moved to Calgary where Frank trained in the Imperial Oil refinery laboratory, later transferring back to Winnipeg and subsequently to Toronto where he worked in the head office of Imperial Oil. In 1972 he transferred with Imperial Oil to Edmonton where he worked at Strathcona Refinery and later became the quality control coordinator for Western Canada until his retirement in 1984. In 1988 he and Olga moved to Victoria where they built a home in View Royal and spent many happy years with friends and fellow annuitants, all the while spending time travelling and visiting family and spending every summer at his beloved Granite Lake cottage in northwestern Ontario. He was also an active member of the mens club of Gordon United Church, where he spent many hours in service for his church and community. Frank had a unique sense of humour and was fiercely loyal to his family. He was a man of tremendous grace and strength who fought to overcome his recent health challenges until the very end, while remaining grateful for the closeness of his family and for the care provided by his hospital care aides, calling them angels. His integrity, sense of fairness and respect for others were apparent until the end, as was his innate ability to understand the world and all things in it. The family is grateful to the staff of the Victoria General Hospital, including the doctors, nurses and care aides, for their outstanding care. Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Olga; his sister, Eleanor Dodd of Saskatoon; his three loving children, Randall (Marva) Seller of Kenora, Leigh Ann (Alan Robb) of Victoria and Susan (Greg Komatich) of Toronto, as well as his four grandchildren, Liam and Morgan Seller and Braden and Jeffrey Komatich. Dad you always said you were proud of us, but it is really us who are so very proud of you. We will love and miss you always. Frank will also be missed by his extended family and his many friends. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date in accordance with his wishes and those of the family.
