Frederick Norman Beard

Frederick (Fred) Norman Beard passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on October 22, 2022 after exceptional care at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

Fred was born to Lillian and Alec Beard on August 24, 1938 in Poole, England. As a young man in search of adventure, he joined the British military, allowing him to travel throughout South East Asia and Africa. Fred later met his wife and best friend, Marion, while living in Bermuda. After living in Calgary, Metchosin and Hawaii, the two settled in Victoria, BC. Fred had careers as a soldier, policeman, real-estate investor, and computer store entrepreneur. He was a loving husband and a father of two boys. He cheered his sons on at soccer games and cycling races, and took the family on camping and boating adventures. In retirement, he played and worked for many years at the Juan de Fuca golf course, and later enjoyed his e-bike on the Galloping Goose trail and Oak Bay waterfront. We will all remember Fred for the many decades of love, devotion, adventure, laughter, and ever-present dad-jokes that he brought us all.

In keeping with Fred's wishes, his family will celebrate his life and scatter his ashes privately. Fred is survived by his wife, Marion, his two sons Paul (Nola) and Michael (Chelsea).
