George Trapp

d. September 28, 2013

Born and raised in Stony Plain Alberta, George moved to Edmonton when he was 18. He worked in the radio and electronics business and was one of the first audiophiles as well as a Big Band fanatic. He met the love of his life, Daphne in Edmonton where they were married in May 1943. Shortly thereafter George left for England to work with the radar unit in the R.C.A.F. After the war George returned to Edmonton and worked for Philco selling radios and T.V.s He was eventually transferred to Calgary to become the Western Regional Manager of Philco. After retiring from Philco, he opened a distributorship in Calgary for the Commodore 64 computers and other electronics. After finally retiring in Calgary he took up astronomy and spent many enjoyable hours watching the stars with his friends, son-in-law and grandson. In 2008, after living and raising his family in Calgary for over 60 years, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Victoria. George is survived by his wife of 70 years, Daphne, daughter Laurel, son-in-law Mark, grandchildren James and Kristen and great-grandchild Evie as well as his nephews David and Doug and their families. He was predeceased by his daughter Wendy in 2010. George was a true gentleman in every sense. He treasured his family and always put his family first, to his final breath. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Canadian Red Cross - Fairfield Road in Victoria. or the Victoria Hospice on Bay Street in Victoria, made in Georges memory would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of Georges life is planned for a later date, to be announced.
