Gladys Fay Nolan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gladys Fay Nolan, who died suddenly at her home in Sooke, British Columbia, on July 14, 2025, at the age of 72.

Gladys was born in Saskatchewan on June 28, 1953. As a single mother, she worked hard to provide for her children, showing strength, resilience, and quiet determination. Her life was marked by compassion, independence, and unwavering care for those around her.

Gladys was known for her daily coffee at Village Foods. Before that, she was a regular at Serious Coffee. These simple routines brought her a sense of comfort and familiarity.

She will be remembered for her laugh, her self-described “sass,” and her open-hearted nature. Gladys had a remarkable absence of judgment, meeting people as they were and offering warmth without conditions. She also had a sharp sense of humour and a deep love for animals and nature.

Gladys is survived by her two children, Angie and Nigel Nolan. She was predeceased by her parents and several close companions who were an important part of her life.

Gladys’s life was rooted in love, and her memory will continue to guide those who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched with her warmth, strength, and independence.

A private gathering will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the BC SPCA or a local organization supporting seniors. If you would like to share a story about Gladys or attend her celebration of life, please email her son Nigel at nigelnolan@gmail.com
