Gordon Walter Jepson
June 25, 1958 – December 10, 2021
Gordon grew up in James Bay and spent many happy days fishing off the Breakwater, catching grasshoppers in the tall grass along St. Lawrence Street and gathering grain for his racing pigeons from the train cars and elevators at Ogden Point. He attended school at James Bay, South Park and Central Jr. High School. His love of the ocean and the outdoors led him to leave school early and pursue his dream of commercial salmon fishing. His home base was Fisherman’s Wharf in James Bay where the “Linda Lee” was moored off season. An avid outdoorsman, Gordon also enjoyed many years sport fishing and hunting. He was also an avid buyer and seller at the Shop and Swap. After he left the fishing industry, Gordon worked in construction and building maintenance. With his bushy white beard and red suspenders, he was a familiar and friendly fixture at Admirals Walk and The Douglas Centre.
Gord did love to tell a story…
Gordon passed peacefully in hospital at the age of 63, following several years of declining health.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert (Tex/Cowboy) and Frances Jepson, and his older brother, Bob, he leaves a large circle of family, friends and fishing and hunting buddies.
