Gretchen Vivian Luyben

Gretchen Luyben, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by her deep love for those closest to her.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Luyben, and her sister, Dyan Galenza.

She is survived by her two brothers, Emmet (Terri), and Norman (Julia), three sons, Mark (Helen), Trent (Dorrie) and Grant, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Gretchen will be remembered as a loving and witty woman who cherished her family dearly. She was known for her legendary lectures, delivered with equal parts wisdom and humor, and for a sharp sense of humor that kept everyone smiling. Her presence filled a room, and her words whether heartfelt or humorous left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Above all else, Gretchen’s greatest legacy is the strong, loving family she nurtured and the countless memories she created with them. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
