TANNER, Harvey James

August 18,1946 - August 7, 2026

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Harvey James Tanner. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Harvey was predeceased by his parents Jim and Catherine Tanner and sisters Joan Guest and Marie McVey. Harvey was born in Victoria and spent his early years in Victoria and Ottawa. He attended UVic and graduated with a BA in Economics. His career began with the Royal Trust Company. He then moved into real estate appraising with the BC Assessment Authority and private fee appraisal companies. Harvey knew every street in Victoria!

Harvey was a kind and caring gentleman who will be remembered for his dry and teasing sense of humour, his ability to connect with people and his love for family. His memory will be cherished by extended family and friends, but most of all by his wife of 51 years, Clare, his daughter Jenn (Ed), son Ross (Khush) and his four beautiful granddaughters Rosa, Laila, Anaya and Suri. We will forever miss his steady, wise and loving presence in our lives.

Harvey handled his failing health with grace and courage. We are so thankful for the amazing support we received; we never felt alone. Special thanks to Dr. Louis Prinsloo, Dr. Larry Sterns, Dr. Sen Han Phang, Juliana, Manjit, the TB Clinic, and the Hospital at Home and Palliative Care teams. Harvey loved you all!

Harvey's perfect day would include pickleball with friends, a walk and lunch out with Clare, time spent with family, a nap in the backyard, planning his next cruise, watching the Blue Jays clinch the World Series and a bowl of popcorn.
