Forty three years ago, Anne and Terry became proud parents of a beautiful daughter and named her Heather. On Dec 7th, 2024, Heather died very suddenly of a massive pulmonary embolism. The loss came as a huge shock; “Nagu välk selgest taevast”… like a bolt of lightning from a clear blue sky.
Heather had gifts that made her a bright star,
She would smile her big smile and laugh straight from her pure heart.
She exuded incredible joy as she lived her best life, and each day gave the gifts of love, happiness and big hugs to all those in her world.
Heather brought colour to any cloudy day.
In the words of her nephew Lochlan, “She was like a rainbow, so beautiful and kind”.
Heather didn’t see gender, disability or age.
She radiated genuine acceptance, support - a role model for all.
Singing was her passion and she glowed when she sang,
Her involvement with REACH choir made her blue eyes sparkle.
Although she made connections far and beyond, Heather’s home was in Sidney.
She loved her independence in this small and caring town.
Her blonde hair would blow in the breeze while she shopped or met with friends.
Working at Thrifty Foods gave her great pride and joy, brightening the days of those who came to her till.
She was an athlete - a star swimmer with Special Olympics, participation in “Options” and “Operation Trackshoes” meant friends, fun and giving back.
Heather was all this and much much more,
Please live her legacy and shine bright.
Heather was predeceased by her father, Terry, in 2018. She leaves behind her mother, Anne, brother Kevin and his wife Zoë, niece Zara, nephew Lochlan, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Heather’s Celebration of Life will be held March 15th: 2:00 pm at the Mary Winspear Center: Bodine Hall in Sidney. Everybody is welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Westcoast REACH choir.
“Once in a while, you meet someone who changes your life - someone who helps you see the world differently, someone you’ll always remember.”
