Heidi Lilianne Ross

ROSS, Heidi Lilianne, born June 20, 1965, passed away peacefully with her daughter, son-in-law and niece by her side on March 30, 2023 at Jubilee Hospital. She is reunited with her late father, Lieutenant Commander Donald N Ross, and her beloved sister, Missy Ross. She leaves behind her mother, Dorset H Ross, her daughter Monica (James), siblings Lindsay, Kristin, Jamie (Sylvia), Nick (Tanya), Katrina (Don) & Jeremy (Tammy), nieces Eleisha (Brad & daughter Elsie), Alex, Chay, Katherine and Arden, and nephews Seb, Macay, Jonah, Sam and Sawyer.

Heidi was a dedicated single mother who was always the biggest cheerleader of her daughter, her many friends, as well as her nieces and nephews. She spent many days encouraging Monica from the sidelines on the soccer field, pool and volleyball court, never missing a single game or accomplishment.

Heidi always faced adversity and her many health concerns with remarkable strength, dignity, and a fierce will to live. Heidi’s infectious laugh and positive attitude carried her throughout her life; during the many sports and competitive teams she played on in her youth, and her repeated battles with her health. She had a love for the ocean and beaches, good food, a big heart for children and animals, and a strong work ethic.

Heidi was determined, kind, thoughtful, generous and stubborn (in the best of ways) until the very end. Her best friend, Gisele, was a frequent visitor while Heidi was in hospital, and provided unwavering friendship for 40 years.

Heidi’s family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, social workers, and doctors (especially Dr Jaswell) in the ICU, HAU and Palliative Care unit at Jubilee for their incredible care and kindness shown to her over her 5 week stay through the end of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you instead consider a donation in her name to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada, or the BCSPCA.

A celebration of life & for her birthday will take place at Saxe Point Park on June 17, 2023.
