Henning Mortensen

MORTENSEN, Henning Kristian

Henning passed away in Victoria BC on June 27, 2024 at the age of 94 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his friends Debbie and Ron Boylan.

Henning was predeceased by his parents Johannes Martinus and Gidsel Marie (nee Christensen) Mortensen of Tim, Denmark and his wife Yvonne May (nee Geroux) Mortensen, buried at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, Calgary, AB.

Henning is to be buried at St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery, Saanichton, BC.

Henning was born in Tim, Denmark on July 8, 1929. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Calgary, AB where he worked as a Laborer for the City of Calgary until he retired. It was here he met his beloved wife, Yvonne, and married in 1968.

He travelled many times by ship and plane to visit family and friends in Denmark as

well as exploring many Canadian provinces and US states. His favorite trip was to the Phillipines in 1999.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed music and loved nature, especially the animals and birds. He visited the Calgary Zoo many times and made a generous donation to support the care of the Panda Bears when they arrived from China. He greatly enjoyed feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds.
