Iris Lillian Henslowe

Iris Lillian Henslowe (nee Axen) passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025.  She is predeceased by her husband Peter John Leonard Henslowe and her siblings George, Ellen, Frank, David and Ida.  She is survived by her daughters Ann(Kerry), Celia(Stephen), Joan(Bob) and her seven grandchildren Jocelyn, Cleo, Rhys, Nathan, Charlotte, Jonathan and Willa.  Iris was born in Brackendale B.C. and upon graduation from high school went into nurses training at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.  After Iris became a registered nurse she moved to Prince George where she married Peter.  Within a few years Iris and Peter moved to Vancouver where Iris continued nursing while raising a family with Peter.  Iris was very gifted with sewing and crocheting and many babies have been kept warm by the lovely blankets she has crocheted.  Family was very important to Iris and she is warmly regarded for the many family gatherings she hosted.  Iris will be greatly missed and her dignity, graciousness and feistiness will be remembered by many. Thank you to the people at hospice for all that you did.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Society, the Victoria Hospital Foundation or Victoria Hospice.
