Jack Donald Smith of Victoria, BC passed away suddenly on May 19, 2016 at the age of 19. Jack was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on December 28, 1996 the best Christmas gift ever. Through his young life he attempted several sports and took music lessons, but it was books and the computer that truly held his attention. He could spend hours ignoring everything around him as he tore through a book or learned a new computer game.
In the summer of 2011, the family moved from Medicine Hat to Victoria. Jack embraced the move, and, as he entered high school, he quickly became known as Jack from Alberta by his new schoolmates and teachers. Jack graduated from Claremont Secondary school in June 2015 and was in his first year of Computer Science studies at the University of Victoria. During Jack's first University social outing Jack met Mica Smith. Not only did they have their last name in common, the found many things to share. Jack tapped into his clever wit, charmed Mica off her feet and they were inseparable from that day on. Jack was a gentle, quiet, intellectual, just beginning his journey into adulthood. His sharp mind, loyalty and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Jack is survived by his parents, Michelle Gaucher and Russ Smith, his siblings Kate and Marc Smith, girlfriend Mica Smith, grandmothers Helen Crawford, Calgary, AB and Eleanor Christie, Medicine Hat, AB.
