James Boyce

Boyce, James Alfred (Jim) November 16, 1919 January 30, 2015 Jim Boyce, beloved husband of Shirley, father of Jan (Van de Vyvere) and Bill, grandfather of Jay, Matti, Patrick and Marley, great grandfather of Cleo, Burke, Min Hee and Jin Hee and brother of Margaret (Groff), passed away in the early morning of January 30, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Mary and brother Hugh. Jim enlisted in 1940. After graduation as an RCAF Navigation Instructor in 1941, he was posted overseas to Bomber Command, 6th Group, retiring in 1945 with the rank of Flight Lieutenant. He and Shirley moved to Thunder Bay in 1946. A businessman there, Jim was actively involved in his community. He was a member and President of the Fort William Kinsman Club. Jan and Bill still remember scrap drives and peanut blitzes as highlights of their childhood. He was also an avid skier and biker and enjoyed sailing, tennis and golf. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a man of definite opinions who didnt enjoy small talk but had a ready wit.
