Dad passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at the age of 91 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital in Saanichton, B.C.He leaves his loving family, son Rick (Lorna), daughters Kathryn (Derek) and Janis (Terry) along with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Our mom Jean predeceased him in 2008. He started out his working life at a very early age, helping at ice rinks to working as a salesman with Kelly Douglas. He and Mom owned and operated a gas station and restaurant for many years in Cedarvale, where Dad was well known for his service oriented business. They moved to Terrace in 1969, where he owned a bulk fuel plant. After selling that business, Dad went on to work at many jobs which involved his love of driving: buses, trucks and school buses among others. Dad was very generous with his time and was always looking for ways to be of service to his friends and neighbors. Over the 60 years that they lived in Smithers, Cedarvale, Terrace and Prince Rupert, Dad made many wonderful friends who became as close to him as family. A celebration of life will be held in Terrace at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency for ovarian cancer research or the BC Children's Hospital.
