James Norman Porter Jr.

James (Dad) was a great man and a greater father. He was the smartest man my brother and I knew. Dad was a happy man with a happy heart. He lived his life to the fullest. Among other things, he traveled the world, he jumped out of airplanes, he climbed mountains and raced cars. More importantly, he helped those who could not help themselves.
He touched many people's lives with his kindness and his willingness to speak up against wrongs and injustices he encountered.
He made a difference.
He showed us how to be loving, caring, empathetic and inclusive. He taught us to respect and to be kind to nature and to each other. His greatest achievement perhaps, was that he made two boys into men with good hearts and souls. He taught us to think for ourselves and to think of others first.
My brother and I consider ourselves the luckiest people on earth to have a father like him. The world is a darker place now that he has passed.
Sleep well Dad, you've earned your rest. We'll see you on the other side.
