James Eric (Jim) Simpson passed away on May 9th, 2024, in Victoria, British Columbia. He was born on May 14th, 1934, in Timmins, Ontario to Jim and Vera Simpson.
Jim was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda, and his dear sister, Patricia. He is survived by beloved daughter, Dara (Jim), sons, James Jr. and Rod (Analie), and his cherished grandchildren, Charlie, Brenna, Vera and James. Jim will be missed greatly by his brother, Kevin (Fran), sister, Sherri (Rob), and many other members of his extended family.
Jim's life was marked by his passion for education and the natural world. He dedicated 25 years of his career as a Forestry Instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where he was able to pass on his knowledge and enthusiasm for the environment. Jim instilled in his students a deep respect for the forests and a commitment to conservation.
His academic achievements were a testament to his lifelong pursuit of knowledge. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and went on to obtain a Masters of Science from the University of British Columbia, where he further honed his expertise in forestry and environmental science.
Jim's Celebration of Life will be held on Monday May 20, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm in Victoria. Please email jejs.may20@gmail.com for more information.
In his memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society, a cause that was close to Jim's heart and a tribute to his wife, Linda (nee Fields).
