Jean passed away suddenly after a brief battle against Esophageal cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Velma & Nelson Crisp; and her dear brother, Nelson who passed just 14 hours before her. She is mourned by her beloved husband of 62 years, Terry; sons Ken & David (Jennifer); grandchildren Andrew (Nicole), Heather, Hannah (Rich) & Anthony (Haley); great-grandchildren Sam, Connor, Declan, Brysen and Freya; & soon to be great-granddaughter Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Selene, nephews, nieces, grandnephews & grandnieces.
Jean attended school in Oak Bay, attained her Practical Nursing Certificate, worked at Eileen’s Cafe & babysat many children. She was a lover of all living creatures, never hesitating to rescue any wounded or lost ones. Jean was proud of her association with the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary’s) & her role as co-caretaker, along with Terry, of 2 of the regiment’s mascots, Wallace IV and V. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her many friends, enjoying tea, a bite to eat or just a chat. She will be sadly missed by all her family & friends.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses & caregivers who helped her navigate through her cancer journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, Victoria Hospice or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life tea will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Chiefs and Petty Officers Mess, Rainbow Room, 1575 Lyall Street, Esquimalt, B.C.
