Jennifer Anne Whybrow

d. December 19, 2016

Jennifer died early in the morning on December 19th at the age of 70 while in the care of the staff and volunteers at the Victoria Hospice. The disease which killed her developed with astonishing speed as it was not discovered until after her angioplasty on Nov. 1st. She was first released from the Royal Jubilee Hospital on November 5th, but was readmitted on November 18th after a clot moved to her brain which left her right arm and leg impaired and her speech and swallowing ability severely compromised. She was moved from the Patient Care Centre at the Jubilee to the Victoria Hospice on December 8th where she remained until her death. In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held. Her body is being cremated by Earth's Option Cremation and Burial Services and the ashes will be spread at the Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria. While Jennifer could not have a traditional Viking funeral in a long boat set adrift at sea after being set alight, she took some solace in knowing that her pair of almost pristine genuine Italian made Amalfi spectator pumps are to be included in the casket with her. She will be greatly missed by her friends and few relatives, but especially by me, her husband, partner and best friend for over 45 years and our cat, Sparks, who still cannot figure out what happened to his other staff member. I am having severe problems contemplating a life without her. To those of you who have sent kind emails, offered words of support and fed or entertained me through the past seven weeks, your actions have been much appreciated by me and Jennifer while she was still cognizant. If you wish to make a donation to a charity in memory of Jennifer, my suggestions are: The BCSPCA (see http://spca.bc.ca/?gclid=COXdqaCzgNECFZCcfgodgMIPng?referrer=https://www.google.ca/). Jen was a life long lover of animals and hated to see any animal wild or domestic suffer. The Victoria Hospice (see https://www.victoriahospice.org/ ). The staff and volunteers at the hospice were amazingly kind and compassionate in providing care and keeping Jen as comfortable as possible in the last few days of her life. .
