Joan Boyd

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joan on March 16, 2013 after a brief illness. She is survived by her brother, David and sister in law Diana, her daughter Valerie and son Michael, and grandchildren Ashley and Danny. Joan was born and raised in Vancouver. She married Tom in 1955 and at that time they moved to Chemainus, where her two children were born. She became a teacher in her early twenties and went on to teach for over 40 years, mainly in the Saanich district. She retired in 1997 but continued to tutor up until 5 years ago, when she turned 75. Joan found great happiness and passion in teaching. There was never a child she didnt believe in. Those who were fortunate enough to have her as a teacher know how supportive and encouraging she was. On top, of being an amazing teacher and mentor she was also a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was an inspiration to her family and those around her. She will be greatly missed. We would like to thank Dr. Keith and the staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for the excellent and loving care she received. In lieu of flowers, we ask you make a donation to Jeneece Place. A celebration of life will be held at the Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 1:00pm.
