Joanne Donohue of Victoria, BC, sadly passed away suddenly on the evening of August 10, 2022. Joanne passed away at home with her dear friend Leisha by her side. It was a peaceful passing.
Born April 17, 1970, Joanne attended Lakeview Highschool and Confederation College before moving to Rainy River to start her career in recreation leadership. She then moved to Victoria, BC to continue to build her career. Having been employed at the Military Family Resource Centre from 1995-2008 as both the Youth Coordinator and then the Coordinator of Volunteers, Joanne then was employed at the Monterey Recreation Centre with Recreation Oak Bay from 2008. She will be extremely missed by the volunteers, members and coworkers from Monterey who have many fond memories of her warm interactions and smile. Joanne developed a large group of friends and earned the respect of her coworkers and the love of her clients and everyone she touched.
Joanne was also an enthusiastic Epicure representative, often treating family to samples when she visited Thunder Bay or would send care packages to her brother and parents.
Joanne was predeceased by her brothers William (Billy), Christopher, mother Leah, grandparents William and Olive Donohue, aunts and cousins.
Survived by her father Patrick Donohue, uncles Billy, Mike and Shawn,
numerous cousins and friends coast to coast.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada
or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment in Thunder Bay will take place at a future date.
A Celebration of Life in Victoria, BC will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Victoria Alliance Church (1792 Townley Street) with refreshments to follow.
Joanne loved bright colours. This is a celebration of life not a sombre event. We encourage friends and family to wear bright colours or to dress in a manner that you feel best celebrates the warm, vibrant life that Joanne shared with us all. We look forward to celebrating the life of Joanne together both in person and online.
