John David Eckford

d. December 12, 2015

"Love love, all you need is Love" John was LOVE He LOVED his family; son Julian, daughter Melanie, grandson William, sisters Judith and Heather, brother Michael, all his nephews and nieces, and partners of family members. John loved, and was given so much strength and peace through his Baha'i faith. John loved The Blue Jays, Canucks, & Rock ‘n Roll music which he knew and could sing the words of a zillion songs. John also loved fishing, 1970's Volkswagon bugs & van, plus anything to do with nature which brought him such peace ... the beach...forests...sunsets...sunrises..... John, so courageously & with humility, dealt with the huge impact of bi-polar mental illness. He also courageously faced a kidney transplant, failure of that kidney, then 3 four hour sessions of dialysis each week. While at dialysis, John entertained everyone with his songs, & staff fell in love with him! John was a very handsome man. Always looking his best was really important to him. As a dapper and very creative younger fellow, John was a newspaper man, working for the Times Colonist in Advertising, then managing his and Holly's paper, The Peninsula Free Press. John was also an accomplished poet. John expressed recently he would like to go back to school to become a Forest Ranger. Just wait John til you are one with the beautiful forest just up the road where you will be laid to rest. BLESS YOU JOHN. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU, SWEET, FUNNY, AUTHENTIC, COMPASSIONATE YOU. WE LOVE YOU!!
