John Wheeler

John Wheeler passed away July 23, 2014 shortly after his 81st birthday in Victoria. He was born July 14, 1933 in Saskatoon. John is survived by his loving, dedicated wife Ellen, children Craig (Tiami), Deb (Rob), Sheryl (Nick), Scott (Jim) and grandchildren Jonathon, Sarah and Raven. John & Ellen recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. They raised their children in Saskatoon and moved to Victoria in 1986. Vehicle mechanics was Johns career and his pastime. He enjoyed working on classic cars and could share a fascinating list of cars he had owned going back to the 1940s. John was an extraordinarily generous man with his time, skills and wisdom. He and Ellen extended their table on all holidays. He delighted in giving surprise gifts. He was the man to call for a stalled car in -30 weather. John always found joy in everyday pleasures. Friends said he loved a joke-good, bad or otherwise. As John expressly wished, there will be no service held. He greatly enjoyed visits with friends & family over the last year and was grateful for the care provided by Pedro.
