Jon Henriksen, December 26, 1961 – October 22, 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we share Jon has transitioned onto his next journey.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kerry, son Jeremy, (Fiona), grandchildren, Khloe, Brayden, Carter and Kyle.
He was pre-deceased by his father Finn, mother Kari, stepfather Mike and son Daniel.
He will be dearly missed by many extended family members, friends and coworkers.
Born in Norway, he moved to Canada at a young age. His family lived in many locations throughout BC.
Jon’s love of the water led him to careers in the Navy, BC Ferries, and the Coast Guard to name a few.
The variety of skills had him working in everything from high profile IT jobs, retail management, food and beverage industry, wine Sommelier, cheese and meat distributor, and his last place of enjoyment was at Sherwood Marine.
Anything to do with the ocean and boating brought him much joy.
Jon always lived life to the fullest even after his cancer diagnosis he never slowed down. Along with his loving wife, Kerry they experienced endless adventures. Everything from moving across Canada and back to BC. From cruises, grizzly bear tours, whale watching, and helicopter excursions. Even a simple day off would find them experiencing joy and appreciation of life here on Vancouver Island. Kerry’s beautiful photography let their many friends and family experience these wonderful memories with them. Jon loved spending time with family and friends. He said what got him through life was his wife’s positive look at life and living with gratitude.
From a young age, Jon’s love of sports, saw him playing soccer, golf, and ball hockey to name a few. As our boys were growing up, you would find him on the fields of soccer, baseball and football. Sometimes coaching, but mostly playing and enjoying the love of the game through their eyes.
For many years, he was a goalie and played men’s ball hockey at Rockheights Middle School in Esquimalt and with the Costco team. With immense determination after his cancer, diagnosis and treatments, he still continued to play never giving up.
Jon loved hockey of all levels. With Greg his brother-in-law, they would attend many games from cold Lake, Edmonton and Victoria when possible. The last few years his granddaughter Khloe began attending games with her papa. I am sure it was for the snacks, laughter and the time spent together, not the game.
Our family wishes to express our appreciation and gratitude for all of the support, shown by family and friends throughout the years. We also wish to acknowledge the attentive care by the cancer clinic, hospice and the many doctors.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Hospice Foundation.
Or write a memory that you share with Jon for the family to have as a keepsake.
An informal small gathering with Family, friends and coworkers to celebrate and share stories of Jon‘s life will be held April 6, 2024 from, 2–4 p.m. at the Highlands Community Hall 729 Finlayson Arm Rd., Victoria BC
