Jonathan was born in London, England on October 19, 1967. His father Paul was from Geelong, Australia and his mother Gloria was from Edmonton, Alberta. They moved back to Canada when Jonathan was just over one year old where he spent a very happy, if not mischievious, childhood with his best friends Stephen and Nathalie Hofforth in Edmonton.
The family enjoyed camping and after several trips to Vancouver Island they decided to move to Victoria in the late 70s where Jonathan's father worked at the Times-Colonist as a journalist and editor. Jonathan completed high school and went on to the Victoria College of Art following in his father's artistic footsteps.
Jonathan's greatest and proudest life achievement was raising his two children, Kendra now 18 and Austin 19. He put his life aside, to give them his, which he did with quiet strength and enduring resilience. Jonathan went through some hard times before becoming a parent and found strength and life-long friendships, lasting until this day, with NA. If you were lucky enough to have Jonathan as a friend you can be sure he was loyal to you forever. He took such beaming pride each year attaining, up until now, a 24 year âclean record' in the NA Society.
Jonathan's dream of living a quiet, rural life finally happened last fall when he bought a âtiny house' RV and moved to Cowichan Bay. He would beam daily about the quiet, clean air, sounds of sea lions barking, rain on the roof and the peace and joy it brought him being there.
Words cannot say how much Jonathan will be missed by his family, his many friends and especially the NA community, who knew him as Jono.
