Maurice Bouillet passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC on Dec 30, 2022 surrounded by family.
He is survived by his children, Lavona, Alida (Stew), Alvie (Rhonda), Iva (Rod), Wanda (James), 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Annette and Marcella, brother Patrick, and many nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his loving wife Laquita in 2020, sons-in-law Mike and Lee, his parents and seven siblings.
Born November 22,1931 in Meadow Lake, SK, Maurice moved with his family to Nelson in 1947. There he met Laquita and in 1953 they married. Over the next twenty five years they made their home in the Kootenays - Nelson, Cranbrook and New Denver, where they raised their five children and enjoyed fishing and camping. In New Denver, they owned and operated Slocan Lake Hardware from 1975 to 1980 and were active members of the community. In 1981 they moved to Vancouver Island. They spent many happy years in Nanaimo, where Maurice worked at the Mid-Island Co-op. They moved to Victoria in 2017 to be closer to family.
Maurice will be remembered for his kind, gentle demeanour, his sense of humour and being quick with puns and jokes, always keeping a ready supply in his shirt pocket.
Maurice will be laid to rest in Nelson, alongside Laquita.
