Joy Irvine

d. December 10, 2014

IRVINE, Joy Christine March 31st, 1941 December 10th, 2014 Joy passed away quietly in Victoria Hospice. Predeceased by parents, Doris (Johnston) and Walter Moore, she is survived by sons Jeff (Lynda, Connor, Teja) and Gary (Nancy, David, Tania, Nathan, Sarah), sister Pat (Dan, Karen, Marty), brother Ross (Brenda, Alicia, Kayla, Sam), and many loving cousins and their families. Born in Carragana, Saskatchewan, Joy spent her early years on the prairies, moving to BC at age thirteen. Happy in her school years, she was clever, artistic and athletic. She could run like the wind. Her working years began with Cunninghams (later Shoppers) Drug Store. Joys competent bookkeeping was valued by Macdonalds Consolidated, Seaspan and Van Isle Water, where she retired as part owner. Joy made many friends during her years of curling and coaching with the Esquimalt Curling Club. Indeed, her generosity was felt by all her friends and family. Humour, too, was given in generous doses. Joys quick wit supplied quips we least expected, giving us lots of laughs. In retirement, Joy travelled to many countries enjoying the people, their culture and history. Throughout Joys entire life, her favourite place to be was outside in the fresh air spending time with animals. From birds, spiders and bumblebees to elephant seals and polar bears, she loved them all. A Celebration of Life will be held at City Centre Hotel, 1961 Douglas St, Jan 11th, 2015 from 2-5 PM. Remembrances may be made to Victoria Hospice, by clicking on tab above.
