Joyce "Joy" Langstaff passed away at Broadmead Lodge in Victoria on 26 April 2018 at the age of 93. Joyce was born in Northampton England. At the age of 18 she joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) serving as a wireless operator during WW2 at the same station where she met the love of her life, Hank Langstaff, a radar technician in the RCAF. They married in 1946 and in 1947 they moved to Canada, raising their family in Yorkton and Calgary. In 1976 they retired to a cabin on the little Shuswap Lake. They enjoyed square dancing and naturalist walks, and spent many winters in California. Joyce was an outgoing and friendly person who struck up conversations and made friends easily. She was happiest around her friends and family, and especially enjoyed going for long walks and singing in the choir in Victoria where she moved after her husband passed away in 2002. She was a very kind person to all and a loving and caring mother who will be very much missed by her 3 children, Gary (Marg), Christine and Karen (Les), 7 grandchildren, her sister Sheila and nieces Sharon and Lorina. We give special thanks to the caring staff at Broadmead who made her last days ones of peace and comfort.
