Born in Victoria, B.C. to G.A.Victor Thomson, CD, and Florence M. Thomson (nee Wilson), Julie was a devoted mother, sister and friend whose warmth and love touched everyone who knew her. She grew up in the Harling Point neighbourhood, graduated from Oak Bay High School and attended UVic. An accomplished musician, she studied under Prof. Stanley Shale, was the pianist for the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra in 1968 and frequently for her church. She began her career with the BC government, rising to manage the defensive driving program for public servants. Moving to the private sector she became Legal Records Manager at Versatile Corporation in Vancouver before devoting herself full time to raising four children. Inspired by her Christian faith and love for others, her greatest joy was making other people happy which she did throughout her life with generosity, imagination and skill. Memories of clever cards, unique gifts, thoughtful phone calls, and her contagious laughter will be cherished by many. Her love of Qualicum Beach will live on in all who spent time with her there. Julie will be deeply missed by her children Lindsay (Mark), Jillian, Brian, and Sean, her granddaughter Katherine, her brother John and family, best buddy Sandi, and her many cousins and friends. Please consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian War Museum in Julie’s memory.
