Karen Elizabeth MENNITTI (nee Parkes)

March 10, 1942 – December 19, 2024

With great sadness we announce that Karen passed away at the age of 82 in the home she shared with her daughter and granddaughter in Powell River, BC.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Karen is predeceased by her parents, Jean and Claude Parkes and by her ex-spouse, Norman Mains.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Karen (Theron), Jacqueline, Marisa, Annette and Daniella (BK); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Claudia and Candace (Kit); plus her dearest friends Norma Hunter, Pete and Helen Ranger and Anna Maria Coletto.

Karen happily spent the last 1-1/2 years of her life residing with her daughter, Annette, and granddaughter, Victoria. She cherished the beauty surrounding her and embarked on many adventures while visiting and enjoying family. She loved walking the track to see how fast she could push her walker and to help burn off all the desserts she loved to eat. Karen’s greatest achievement and joy in life was her family.

Outstanding care and compassion were provided by the Vancouver Coastal Health workers, palliative care team and Doctors De Flamingh and Rossouw, for which we are most grateful.

A private memorial service may be planned for a later date.
