Ken passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Joan by his side at the Victoria Hospice on December 27th, 2012 at the age of 87. Ken and Joan were married in his birthplace, Swaffham Norfolk, England on May 3rd, 1947, and celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage this year. They moved to Canada 17 years ago to join their family. Ken is survived by his son Martin and wife Chris and his daughter Sue, her husband Eric and grandson Alex. Ken was a former RAF serviceman and an accomplished artist and active in many Victoria art groups. He was also a sailor, snooker player, avid gardener and musician. Perhaps most notably he was a visionary educator who pioneered a holistic, integrated approach to educating the whole child as a headmaster in England. Kens intellect, modesty, gentleness and compassion were recognized and appreciated by everyone who met him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He had a deep faith in God and the happiest years of his career were as a headmaster in Church of England Primary Schools. A Memorial Service will be held for him at St Georges Anglican Church, 3909 St. Georges Lane, Cadboro Bay on Friday January 4th, 2013 at 1pm. For those who wish, donations can be made in Kens memory to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Click above on memorial gift
