Kenneth Andrew Moselle led a remarkable life that started on April 1,1952 in Metuchen New Jersey, and ended at age 72 on November 15, 2024, in Vancouver, BC. He grew up with two surviving siblings: sister Suzy (husband John, children Nick and Anna) and brother Charles (daughter Crystal and son Luke). He is also survived by devoted nieces Laura and Katie Vaines and grand-nephew Nathan Kitchen. Ken earned a BA at Yale University and a PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, where he met his wife Frances Louise Jessica Ball. They spent a decade working in Southeast Asia, where they welcomed their son Eli in 1987 and daughter Sarah in 1990. In 1995 the family established a rich family, work and community life in Victoria, Canada. Ken worked for the Vancouver Island Health Authority for 29 years, first in mental health services and subsequently as the chief data architect for service quality improvement. Ken mentored and championed the innovative work of many cherished colleagues. He was a uniquely gifted person who befriended, taught, amused, cajoled, and loved many people from all over the world and varied walks of life. He had a host of hobbies – most exceptionally cycling, as well as gardening, reading physics, travelling, cooking, playing Go, building computers, repairing bikes, woodworking, playing with electricity, and caring for his beloved dog Stella. Most importantly, Ken was a wonderful father to Eli and Sarah, father-in-law to Annemarie and Booker, and grandfather to Naomi (4), Eve (1) and Pablo (6 mo.). When he learned of his devastating diagnosis, he reflected that all forms of matter are transient, and that he was the past whilst his grandchildren and their devoted parents are the future. Forever loved as a spirit that lives on within those he loved, his remains received a green burial on November 21 at Royal Oak Burial Park in Saanich British Columbia. For the inscription on the collective memorial stone, he chose: No matter, no mind.
