Kenneth W. T. Moulson, FCPA, FCGA

April 1, 1941 – February 6, 2022

Ken, our beloved Husband, Dad and Poppa, slipped away peacefully in Victoria, BC at the age of 80 after a long struggle.  Born in St. Boniface, MB, Ken moved to Victoria in his early teens.  He received his CGA designation in 1968 and was a partner in the accounting firm Mann, Moulson & Co for 44 years.  He served on many CGA Committees locally, provincially and nationally and was President of the BC CGA Association in 1979. He volunteered with the Canadian Diabetes Association, the United Way, served as Chair of the Board of Governors at St. Margaret’s International School for Girls and served two terms (1986-1990 and 2010-2013) as President of Gorge Vale Golf Club.  Ken also volunteered for many years as Treasurer of the Alex A. Campbell Conquer Cancer Classic Golf Tournament.

Ken loved his sports.  He played football, hockey, baseball, basketball, and tennis.  He bowled, skied and golfed.  He was Assistant Coach, later Head Coach (1971) for the Saanich Hornets junior football team from 1965 to 1973.  He coached junior hockey (Eddie’s Electric), T-ball and tended goal for the Sooke old timers team The Blunderbirds. His claim to fame as goalie was to have his picture on the front page of the Sooke Gazette!  His less active pursuits included pool, bridge, poker, darts, board games, especially trivial pursuit.  He loved his trips to Las Vegas to golf and where he demonstrated his skill at the table playing Craps. He had many trips with his buddies to San Francisco to watch major league baseball which often included a side trip to Lake Tahoe.   Ken was a devoted fan of the New York Rangers since he was 5 years old and did not fear wearing his New York Rangers Jersey to a Canucks game!

In 1961 when Ken was 20 he went off to Europe with four buddies and spent time in London working for the Roots Group as well as time spent working on a farm in Ireland.  Before travelling back to Canada he hitchhiked through France and Spain.  The memories he made and the stories he had to tell!  He returned to Europe in 2012 visiting London as well as Paris and Barcelona before taking a Mediterranean cruise with Sharon.  Ken spent many winters in Palm Desert with Sharon enjoying golf and the sun’s warmth by the pool with a cold beer in his hand.

Ken was passionate about his golf and participated in many Pro-Am Golf Tournaments over the years in Arizona, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Hawaii and Thailand. He was one of the original participants in the Mesquite Amateur golf tournament in Mesquite, Nevada and was proud to receive his 10 th anniversary pin as a loyal participant.  He loved his many road trips around the province and into the US with his golf buddies.  One of the highlights of his life was going to watch the Solheim Cup in Denver, Colorado in 2013.  At that time, walking was a challenge for Ken, but always the optimist, he was determined to go with the guys and so he did.

Ken will be remembered for his professionalism and leadership, his work ethic (“ a job worth doing is a job worth doing well” he always said), his eternal optimism, his quick wit, his infectious laugh and his chocolate birthday cakes which he enjoyed baking for each of our birthdays.  Ken was outgoing and fun.  He loved to entertain and so enjoyed planning and hosting his annual pool parties.

Ken was predeceased by his parents Fred and Dorothy and brother Paddy.  He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Christine (Iain) and Carleigh (Makoto), brother Tim (Kelly), grandkids Oliver, Finn, Robin and Mila, extended family and many friends.

We will forever miss Ken’s larger than life presence in our lives.  We love you Ken, Dad, Poppa. We are comforted to think that you are now golfing with your buddies who went before.

“Busy Hands are Happy Hands”

We thank the staff at Beckley Farm Lodge for their compassionate care of Ken in his final years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
