It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister after an unexpected and sudden illness. Linda passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on August 31, 2015.
Linda was born in Winnipeg as part of an active family of three brothers and two sisters. She was an adventurous spirit and travelled widely in her youth. She worked in Ottawa, then moved to Victoria to be close to her parents who had retired there. In 1982, Linda started work in the Finance department at William Head Institution and soon met Wally. They married in December of 1984. Linda was incredibly proud of her lovely daughters Katrina Gabriele and Melissa Anne, and loved to bake and cook for her family. Many happy family vacations were spent with Oma and Opa, Wally's parents and Aunt Gabi in Salmon Arm, BC.
After taking her second maternity leave, Linda decided on a new career path and studied to obtain her credentials as an Education Assistant. Linda enjoyed over 20 years in School District 62. Her first positions were at Hans Helgesen followed by Glen Lake, and for the past seven years at David Cameron Elementary. Linda loved her job, the students and her colleagues at David Cameron and they soon became her 'second family'.
Linda is predeceased by her father James Dobson.
Left to mourn Linda's passing are her husband Wally, daughters Katrina (Jesse) and Melissa (Mattaeus), mother Clova, sisters Janice (George) and Lori, brothers John, David and Jimmy, sister in law Gabriele, numerous nieces and nephews, European Klein relatives, and life-long friends Carole and Rozaline.
Linda's family wishes to express their deep gratitude to her colleagues at David Cameron and to Wally's colleagues at William Head for their loving support to Linda and her family during Linda's last weeks. The family also wishes to express their deep felt thank you to Dr. Thomas Bailey and the caring nursing staff on the sixth floor Neuroscience wing at Victoria General Hospital.
A Celebration of Linda's life will take place on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Olympic View Golf Course, 643 Latoria Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
