Linda Mae Simpson

November 14, 1938 — April 14, 2019

Linda Mae Simpson (nee Fields), loving wife, Mom, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend to many, passed away in the early hours of April 14, 2019 at age 80, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born on November 14, 1938 in her beloved Victoria, BC to the late Charles Arthur (Art) and Nora Fields. Upon graduating from Esquimalt High School, Linda trained as a laboratory technician and accepted her first job at Royal Jubilee Hospital, but like all Fields before her, Linda had a desire to try her hand at several other employment opportunities. For many years she worked at Scott Paper, first as a mill scheduler and then an accountant. She was a homemaker when her children were young before returning to laboratory work as a Lab Technician at BC Biomedical where she remained until retirement.

Like all Fields, Linda had a passion for chocolate, loving anything with chocolate, especially her daily mocha coffees. Her love of chardonnay was legendary but it HAD to be dry chardonnay or it just wasn't worth it!

She had a beautiful and mischievous smile leading up to the most amazing infectious laugh, ... and let's not forget the snorting, or at least that's what we always ended up doing which resulted in more laughter and snorting.

She was kind, generous and a beautiful soul who was like a second Mom to many people.

She is survived by Jim, her devoted husband of 57 years, sons Jim Jr., Rod (Analie), and daughter Dara Kirkpatrick (Jim). Linda was a loving grandmother to Charlotte, Brenna, James and Vera, a cherished sister to her brothers C.A (Wanda) and Jim, and dear sister-in-law to Sherri Simpson. Linda has many nieces, nephews and cousins who will greatly miss her.

Her beloved sister, Kerry Stevenson who also lost her battle with Alzheimer's, predeceased Linda in 2017.
