“If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Marie Wall, who left us on September 5, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born in Burnaby, BC, Linda made her home in Victoria, where she became known for her warmth, generosity, and love that touched everyone she met.
Linda will be forever cherished by her husband, Michael, her children, Derek and Emily, their partners Paige and Sean and her treasured grandchildren, Piper and Julian. Becoming a Nana was one of the greatest joys of her life. She traveled to Edmonton to cheer at Piper’s dance recitals, always sending cookies and goodies to remind her granddaughter how loved she was. She proudly supported her daughter’s pregnancy and delivery journey, gave endless love and care to Julian as a newborn, and shared precious experiences like attending infant swimming lessons with Emily and baby Julian. Linda embraced every moment of being a grandmother, pouring her heart into the role she had always dreamed of. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Toby.
Linda devoted much of her career to her role as a unit clerk at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, where she was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and kindness. She found joy in mentoring new clerks, patiently sharing her knowledge and encouragement.
Family and community were at the heart of Linda’s life. She enthusiastically supported her children’s activities, serving as an assistant softball coach and as the beloved “concession stand lady” at Cedar Hill Softball. She also delighted generations of families at the Quadra Elementary School Christmas Craft Fair with her famous gingerbread cookies. Linda was a devoted supporter of the arts as well, always attending her son’s performing arts college performances and community theater productions, cheering him on with pride every step of the way.
Her home was a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her cooking. Linda was celebrated for her beautiful cakes, homemade jams, and warm meals, always offered with generosity. She found joy in gardening, caring for her houseplants, knitting, collecting dolls and trolls, and spending evenings playing card games with family and friends. A lover of music, musicals, and dance, she brought light and laughter wherever she went.
After retiring, Linda and Michael embraced their love of travel, exploring Hawaii, Chicago, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Montreal, Quebec City, Seattle, and multiple locations across Vancouver Island. Along the way, Linda delighted in connecting with family and making new friends, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Highlights included the Vancouver Island Music Festival, where she could be found dancing with joy and soaking in the music.
Even through her courageous battle with cancer, Linda’s positivity, grace, and unwavering spirit never faltered. She remained the heart of her family, nurturing traditions, keeping loved ones close, and ensuring no one ever felt alone. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of Linda’s friends and loved ones, whose visits, meals, and unwavering support brought comfort and strength throughout her journey.
Linda’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends—through the recipes she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the boundless love she gave so freely.
