It's with great sadness and acceptance that we announce the passing of Lis Birte Moore (nee Jorgensen) on Aug 16, 2017. She is survived by her children Michelle Ambrose, Wendi Meyer (Jonathan), Wayne Pike (Christina), Sherri Moore and Warren Moore, (Nicole) and her much adored grandchildren, grandchildren, Morgan, Kyle, Lisa, Michelle, Justine, Jena, Ross, Breanne, Kaley, Haley, Chantelle and Makenna, and her brothers Preben Jorgensen (Hanna) and Tony Jorgensen (Inge) of Odense, Denmark. She is predeceased by her parents Kai and Karen Jorgensen and her husband of 35 years, Roy Thomas Moore.
Lis was born in German occupied Denmark in 1940 where her father was part of the Danish Underground resistance movement. At 19 she embarked on an adventure (which never ceased!), travelling to South Africa for love. Lis immigrated to Canada in 1980 with her then husband, Roy Thomas Moore, and their blended brood and one green Austin Healey.
Lis truly embraced Victoria as her forever home, where she formed many life long friendships. Widowed in 2011, she chose to live her passion for friendships and travel, taking trips with girlfriends and spending time with beloved family in Africa and Denmark. In 2015 she found love again with Britton Ellis, with whom she shared her infinite energy, infectious laugh and joy of being on the beaches of Canada, Mexico and Africa. They made one last long journey to Africa together earlier this year.
A celebration of Lis' life will be held on Monday, August 21st at 2pm at Uplands Golf Course.
Please see the Tribute Wall to leave a condolence for the family or to make donations to Pasture Valley Children's Home in Swaziland (www.pasturevalley.com) in memory of Lis.
