Lisa Barbetta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sweet Lisa on April 14, 2013. Proud and loving mother of Michael, a great and caring sister to Tricia (Danny-Boy), Cynthia (Shawn), Nick, Tim (Marg), Peter (Francie), Steve (Julie), and Cathy. Loving partner to Mike (Mr.) Toby, special aunt to Bailey and Oliver and many others in Ontario. Lisa was predeceased by her parents, June (nee Wilson) and Nick Barbetta. Life for Lisa was best celebrated in the company of family and friends a familial talent for gourmet meals balanced with spirited laughter and meaningful conversation well into the night. She was insightful, generous and ever kind. Lisa embraced west coast life, loved the outdoors and shared her yoga practice and teaching with a loyal following. Lisa loved working with the children and staff at Lansdowne School and they returned that love back to her. Lisa made a conscious choice to live the past 2 years with ovarian cancer in the same way she lived her entire life with integrity, strength, beauty and humour. Laughter and tears were equally honoured. With her ever-supportive sister, Tricia, her loving partner, Mike Toby, and a constellation of friends and family, Lisa embraced more adventures in the past 2 years than most people do in a lifetime. Our hearts are broken but we know that she is free, and imagine her embraced and welcomed with ancestral love and a raised glass of our grandfathers homemade wine a heavenly gathering now brighter with her presence. We are grateful to so many for their expert care and kindness: Dr. Sparling, Dr. Michels, the nurses and support staff at the Cancer Clinic, Community Care nurses, especially lovely Edris and all of the wonderfully gifted staff with Palliative Care. We are forever grateful to our fabulous Victoria Hospice staff, angels all of them, (Dr. Saiger, Dr Ryan, Christina, Caroline, the 2 Michelles), just to name a few. Special thanks to Indrus. A Celebration of Lisas life will take place for family and close friends at the private home of Craig Toby located at 5098 Clutesi Dr. on Friday April 19th starting at 4:00pm.
