Lynn Mary Julia Hunter, the brightest of lights, left us on January 16, 2024, in Nanaimo, BC. She shared her beautiful smile with us until the very last.
Her father Joseph, husband Ben, children and grandchildren, Dave (Quinn and Nina), Jennifer (Hunter and Robyn), brothers Delton and James (Daemon and Nevaeh) are deeply saddened at having to say goodbye much too soon.
Lynn lived her life with fearless enthusiasm, secure in her belief in the goodness of her fellow humans. In every adventure she looked for meaning and light: relationships, children, career, social life, and travel.
Many will remember Lynn as a gifted educator, respected for her personal commitment to her students. Her impulse for caring and nurturing carried over in retirement, as she rekindled a desire to make art. Lynn’s fabric collages, paintings and drawings, and sculptures are infused with a joyous spirit that reflects how much she loved to play.
More than art, Lynn’s real attachment was to the people in her life. To her children, grandchildren, and friends, Lynn was the world’s best listener, slow to judge and ready to offer support. She was a number one cheerleader for everyone in her life and we all felt better about ourselves in Lynn’s presence.
We love her as big as the mountains…
Donations in Lynn’s memory may be made to Literacy Central Vancouver Island or to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for use in the Palliative Care Unit.
Details for a celebration of life will be posted at a later date on this tribute page.
