Margaret DONNA Matthews

April 18, 1934 – May 10, 2024

Donna passed peacefully in her Victoria home of 59 years. Her husband Trevor, and her 2 sons Bruce and Terry were close at her side in deep lament.

Donna also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Margaret and two grandchildren, Meaghan and Jack, and her sister Sidney (Norbert) and many nieces and nephews. Donna was a very special person and did not have an unkind bone in her body. At age 12, Donna’s mother died, and her father provided determined care and love with the support of his two sisters. Such vital family support was indelibly marked on Donna’s personality.

She married Trevor in 1957 and she pursued her nursing degree at VGH and worked at Stanford University Hospital to support Trevor’s graduate studies. Settling in Victoria for the next 59 years, Donna was the backbone of a nurturing home, a loving family, a dedicated volunteer and a dear friend to many. She accepted people as they were and offered her support and understanding unconditionally.

Donna was “precious” in the true meaning of the word. Family and friends will remember her fondly for the depth of her kindness, patience, and care for others. She would often be heard saying “straighten up, fly right, be happy and be in love”. She will be dearly missed!

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to niece Bonnie, Judy and the wonderful “home” support team over the last year.
