Margaret Claire Sherwood

Margaret Claire Sherwood, born December 27th, 1943, passed away on February 15, 2023 at the age of 79 years. Her loving family will always cherish her memory: husband Henry Sherwood, 2 daughters Capella Sherwood (husband Gregory Campbell and sons Desmond, Winston and Sidney Campbell) and Lyrica Sherwood (partner Talia Johnson), as well as Margaret’s two older brothers John and Charles Dayton of California (and their children & grandchildren).

Margaret was born and raised in Long Beach, California, and was thrilled to find where she was meant to be when she first traveled to Victoria in 1968. She met her loving and devoted Dutch husband Henry at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and they were married in April 1976 to the tune of Handel’s Water Music. Margaret and Henry have always lived near the water; first at West Bay Marina in Esquimalt on a houseboat, after which they raised their 2 daughters along the Colquitz Creek, often peacefully canoeing as a family into Portage Inlet. Margaret and Henry and cat Pippit later moved to Cordova Bay where she and Henry enjoyed windy and stormy walks along the beach by Agate Lane.

Friends are invited to attend the burial followed by a remembrance of life;  Masks required at the indoor chapel service. Fresh masks will be provided.
