Marijke Antonetta Morrison

Marijke Antonetta Morrison, nee Meulmeester, passed on to a better place 08 December 2017, after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer. Her Oncologist called her his miracle patient. Marijke was born and raised in the small town of Hoensbroek, Limburg Province, The Netherlands, 01 November 1948 - all Saint's Day. She received her Nursing Training in the Netherlands before coming to Canada as a landed immigrant in 1974. She worked at Mount St Mary's then Queen Alexandria's Hospital for Children prior to becoming a home support worker here in Victoria as well as in Ottawa. She followed her husband around the naval bazaars, including a stint with the Royal Navy, calling each posting an adventure. She will be missed, especially her smile, her positive attitude and her beautiful blue eyes. Marijke leaves behind her husband John of 40 years, her sons Mark (Danielle) and Michael, brothers Jo (Mariet) and Jacques (Merta - deceased) of the Netherlands, sister Anne Devries (Henry - deceased) of Victoria and a multitude of friends and family here in Victoria and the Cowichan Valley, as well as the Ottawa Valley and the Netherlands.
Family would like to thank the BC Cancer Clinic for their support, particularly Marijke's Oncologists Dr Joe, Dr Ksienski, Dr Sparling (deceased); surgeon Dr Ross; the pain management team of Dr Downing and RN Amy and the dedicated nursing staff in the lounge. Also our sincerest gratitude to the 3rd floor staff of the Cowichan District Hospital, where Marijke spent her last days. Special thanks to Dr Grymaloski for his moral support, assistance and insightful analogies during Marijke's final days and hours. Finally, to the Cowichan Hospice Staff for their support.
Marijke, we all love you. Lucky for all of us for your life!  John, Mark (Dani) and Michael.
