Marion Violet Reesor

November 11, 1939 — December 11, 2024

Reesor, Marion Violet (Budda)

A genuine coal miner’s daughter, Marion was born in Bellevue, Alberta on November 11, 1939 and moved with her family to Calgary in 1946. She received her education in Calgary and after raising her family, she worked in the oil and gas industry as an executive secretary with Chevron Canada. Marion was 19 when she married Barry Costello in 1959 and in 1962, 1963 and 1966 they welcomed three children – Michael, Brian and Kari.

In 1989, Marion married Tom Reesor and in 1991 the couple retired and moved from Calgary to Victoria. Marion and Tom had many happy retirement years together, enjoying gardening, outings with walking groups and most notably travelling the world on various adventures.

Marion was predeceased by her mother Lena Budda (1976), father John Budda (1989), brother Johnny Budda (1991), brother Frank Budda (2006), nephew Chris Morin (2011), husband Tom Reesor (2018) and daughter Kari Costello (2018).

Marion will be fondly remembered for her commitment to family, including vacations and gatherings, her love of pet cats over the decades (Patches, Buster, Belle, Sophie and Monkey), her world-class bargain-hunting shopping and investing skills, her steel-trap memory of events and numbers throughout her life and for her thoughtful generosity to others. Marion had a knack for storytelling that could have filled a TV talk-show slot and her infectious body-shaking laughter often left the entire room in stitches. Despite encountering numerous health issues over the years, Marion always persevered through the pain to live her life to the fullest.

Marion is survived by sister Anna (Bruce) Morin, and sister-in-law Thora Budda, nieces Darlene Hernandez, Lisa-Marie Budda and Jennifer Morin, all of Calgary, nephew Kenneth Budda of Tampa Bay, and also her sons Michael Costello of Victoria and Brian Costello (Terri Les) of Toronto.
