Martin Scherrer 1942-2023

Twenty-five years ago Martin retired in Switzerland and immigrated to Canada, settling in the Qualicum/Parksville area. He was proud of his Swiss heritage. He was an energetic and competitive table tennis player, winning silver and bronze medals at the BC Seniors Games. Whenever the weather allowed Martin looked forward to a game of pickle ball. To relax he read mystery novels by Baldacci or Silva.

Martin loved cars and driving. He looked forward to road trips locally and provincially and drove across Canada several times, getting off main highways whenever possible. He followed race car events nationally and internationally, and took race care driving lessons at one time.

He is survived by his sister Marianne who lives in Switzerland, and his partner Margaret McKelvie. To her he was a loving, caring, helpful and generous companion. Although their time together was all too short, Martin was the love of her life.
