Lynne Larson

June 25, 1948 — January 22, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lynne Larson, beloved mother, grandmother, spouse, and friend, from a sudden brain aneurysm.

She is predeceased by her father, Sidney Edwin Jensen, and mother, Mary Derbowka.

She is survived by husband Kenneth Henry Larson, sister Joanne Tench (Larry), children Chris (Lindsay) and Merrilee, and grandchildren Taylor, Dillan, Luka, and Theadora.

Lynne was a great lover of music, piano, movies, reading and books. She was creative and enjoyed crafts and sewing, producing many stylish clothes and great Halloween costumes. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and studied ikebana in Victoria. She also played tennis, rode bikes, and enjoyed playing mini golf with her grandchildren. She was fun and had many adventures: she drove sporty cars, went above the arctic circle and saw wild reindeer, skied mountains, canoed lakes, hiked, camped, toured wineries, rode trains across Europe and traveled around the world.

Lynne achieved many things in life, graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School in Surrey, BC, as well as graduating with a Bachelor in Arts from UBC in 1970. Lynne formed a great partnership with Ken after meeting at UBC in 1966-67 and marrying in 1970. Her life with Ken brought her from West coast to East coast and back again. Living in Powell River, Delta, Saint John (New Brunswick), Port Alberni, Whitecourt (Alberta), and Victoria, with stops in Jyvaskyla and Turku (Finland), Pine Falls (Manitoba) and Maple Bay. Lynne made new friends and created happy, warm homes for herself and her family everywhere they went.

To her children and grandchildren, Lynne was inspiring, encouraging and motivating. Lynne was also strong and determined, bravely battling and beating breast cancer after turning 50. Lynne’s constant generosity, good humour, empathy and kindness towards others brought and kept family and friends together across time and great distances.

Lynne will be greatly missed by family and friends.
