With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael Lindsay Carver on December 11, 2023 in Victoria. Mike was born on March 27, 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta to Carole (Alex) and Alan (Noreen) Carver.
Michael grew up in Colwood, attending Wishart Elementary and Dunsmuir Secondary. He completed the Culinary Training program at Vancouver Community College and cooked at various restaurants in Vancouver before returning to the Island where he resided in the Town of Lake Cowichan until his death.
Mike proudly served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces, first with the Canadian Scottish Regiment then with the 741 and 748 Communications Squadrons in Victoria and Nanaimo. His service included a deployment with the UN Peacekeeping Force in the Golan Heights and a Prime Minister’s Office tasking to Abuja, Nigeria. Mike retired from the CAF with the rank of Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant and Transport NCO. In civilian life he contributed his considerable experience as a Supply Technician to Base Logistics at CFB Esquimalt.
Mike was happiest hanging out with his family and friends, cooking, camping and fishing on Cowichan Lake. He was a loving Dad to Rya (Kyle), Tom and Jocelyn and a devoted grandfather to Memphis. He was a beloved brother to Meagan (Blair), Alanda (John) and Clayton (Pam) and an adoring uncle to Poppy, Ryker and Zoe.
Mike was a kind, witty and generous man who loved to laugh and was a loyal friend who could always be counted on. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 22nd, from 1pm to 3pm at Jake’s on the Lake restaurant in the Town of Lake Cowichan.
