Muriel Lowry

Muriel (Micky) Joyce Lowry, nee Halminen (February 17, 1929 November 19, 2013) Gramma Muriel has peacefully left this earth. Muriel was born in Alert Bay, B.C. to Oiva and Frances Halminen and was raised in Sointula. She is survived by her husband David, daughters Leona, Wendy (Bill), Donna (Curt), and son Brian (Mimi); grandsons Andy, Kelsey, Jamie, David, Pablo and Niko and great grandson Jaxon. Muriel was also birth mother of Monica Julson (Steven and Lesley). A 56 year resident of Esquimalt for many years she was an active curler, bowler and pool player. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, creativity, artistic talents and incredible garden. Fun times with Gramma included singing, good food (home grown fruit and vegetables, butter tarts and dinosaur bones) and lots of jokes. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oak Bay Lodge staff that cared for Gramma and to Florencia for her support. To honour her wishes there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity supporting rescued animals.
