Nicholas 'Nick' Marshman

d. April 19, 2017

Nick [Drakis] passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Patricia "Trish" Fotheringham, brother John Marshman, distant family relations and many dear chosen family and friends. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Nick was deeply loved, valued, and respected, known for being kind and caring. He measured his days by how many people he made smile and loved to help anyone who came his way. A proudly unique person, Nick refused to succumb to society's norms. Nick was wise and witty, always offering a perspective on things that others may not have considered. He loved to pun and play on words and was a natural "Punmaster". He was also crafty and resourceful, able to thrive when times were tough. Nick had several hobbies and interests, including cute animal videos, cutting edge science and technology, Warhammer 40k, Dungeons and Dragons, furry, and PC video games.
His love of community and technology lead him to forge long-term connections in online communities like Steam and Twitch. In the last few years he also made a number of friends from his time with 7-11 and Planet Organic Market, becoming dear to many coworkers over the years. Fly Free Dragon. In Lieu of flowers his family requests that donations be made to Victoria Hospice in his memory and for the warm and gentle care that they provided Nick/Drakis in his last days. A Celebration of Life will be held Sat May 13, 12noon-5pm, at the Fisgard St Forum, 845 Fisgard St. Nick wanted laughter and games, so there will be D&D and Warhammer40K games set up in 2 of the rooms, plus ordinary board games in another room.
