Nicholas Norman Neriuoka

September 7, 1943 — October 25, 2022

On October 25, 2022, Nicholas Norman Neriuoka, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.Nick was born to Steve and Sophie Neriuoka on September 7, 1943 and grew up on a farm just outside of Wroxton, Saskatchewan with his brothers, Steven and Dennis, and sisters Sonja and Diane. Nick also left behind three children Bonnie, Neil and Steve whom he raised between 1965 to 1990.

Once he was old enough, he left the farm to pursue his ambitions outside of Saskatchewan and he moved to Toronto, Ontario. After working in a few jobs, he found a position with Ford Automobile manufacturing where he worked for many years, giving him the opportunity to learn about the mechanics of building cars and trucks. Embarking on a journey westward, Nick later settled in Victoria, where he successfully pursued a career in real estate like his mother, Sophie. Throughout his life, Nick enjoyed meeting new people and connecting with them, so a career in real estate was a great fit. Life then took him to BC’s Okanagan region where he settled into a home located on an orchard in Penticton and he continued on as a realtor. This was the perfect place for him to enjoy the beautiful hot summers and to connect with BC’s rich natural beauty. Being close to nature made him feel content and returning to the Okanagan region in the summer months was always a treat.

Eventually, Nick would move from the Okanagan to BC’s west coast. After moving to Victoria, Nick joined Pemberton Holmes Ltd as a realtor. He met Gurcharan Chauhan who was also a realtor at Pemberton Holmes, and they became best friends. Nick visited Gurcharan’s home numerous times, where Gurcharan’s children referred to him as, “Uncle Nick,” because he was a constant in their lives and they enjoyed his company and great sense of humor. Following his retirement from the real estate profession, Nick’s friendship with Gurcharan endured, whether it was meeting up every week for lunch, coffee, or enjoying great bike rides on the Galloping Goose and Lochside regional trails.

Nick will always be remembered for his casual approach to life and enjoying each day as it came. He will be greatly missed by Gurcharan and family, and all those who had the pleasure to know him.
