Olive Compton, age 96, died peacefully in the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, on June 25, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, John, and is survived by her son, Colin, and daughter, Jean. Olive grew up on the Formby shores in England. She and John moved to Victoria in 1980 after many years in London, Ontario. The move to Victoria brought Olive close to the "sea" she loved and allowed her to pursue her passion for birding. She was the hub connecting family members around the world, insisting on handwriting letters to everyone until she was no longer able to manage. She is remembered by all who knew her as bright, kind, funny, inquisitive, sweet, and gracious. She put people at ease and brightened every room she entered. She will be much missed by many. At Olive's request there will be no service.
