After a short illness faced with vital courage and faith.
Paul was born in Toronto to James and Helen Bitove. As a child the wonders of the natural world unfolded for him from behind the lens of a telescope and on many adventurous canoe trips. He graduated from Queen's University (1977), University of Warwick, UK (1980), University of Windsor (1982). During his career years he practised law as a company lawyer, successfully ran his own publishing company and latterly worked in tax accounting as practitioner and instructor.
He will be remembered especially for his many abilities and talents, his musicality, his glorious photos of the landscape, his much appreciated ability to make a campfire in less time than it takes to stake a tent, his lifelong enthusiasm for cycling, his unique and warm sense of humour, his compassion for those in need, and his principled and balanced approach to life's challenges.
Paul will be greatly missed by loving wife Sarah, adoring daughter Olivia, beloved sister Linda (Tom), beloved brothers Chris and Stephen (Kathy), nephews and nieces, cousins, and wider family, friends in Canada and overseas, colleagues, students and clients.
The family would especially like to thank: Dr. Robinson, Dr. Biberdorf, Dr. Ksienski, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Riddler, Dr. Spink, and Dr. Robertson and all the staff on 8S at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria for their wonderful care of Paul.
At Paul's request there will be no service. A family memorial will take place in Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Victoria Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
